Edge of the Lake Vineyard 2019 Freedom White

This 2019 Freedom White from Edge of the Lake Vineyard is a blend of 50% Viognier and 50% Albarino. Seductively feminine in character, this beauty shows aromatics of honey and florals, with notes of honeysuckle, peach, pineapple, and pear on the palate.  The mouthfeel is rich and full-bodied with nicely balanced structure.  Medium acidity, 14.5% ABV.

The name “Freedom White”, is a tribute to the winemaker’s grandmother, Iweeta McIntosh, whose art work appears on the front label.  The back label describes her as “a woman of character and lover of freedom”.  I love it when wine has a story.

Edge of the Lake is a family-owned and operated vineyard and winery located on the shores of Lake Ray Roberts in Valley View, Texas. Built by Dr. Fred Cummings, a practicing OBGYN in Denton, it sits on fifteen acres of lakefront property.  Winemaker Chris McIntosh and family run the daily tasting room operations.  My favorite thing about this winery is how every person who steps through the door instantly becomes part of the family.
