This 2020 Primitivo from Jim and Barbara Irwin of Adelphos Cellars is one of those rare wines I would call an “experience”. Heady and jammy, with rich floral perfume of violet and spice on the nose, and seductively complex layers of dark fruit, cinnamon, and clove on the palate. Fruit sourced from Jim’s Cerro Santo Vineyard near the ghost town of Estacado in the Texas High Plains AVA.
A double gold winner in my book.
